Join us for a Professional Development Seminar featuring Nina Fefferman, who will discuss pathways for translating theoretical work into real-world impact.

Talk Title:
Having Real-World Impact as a Data-Free Theorist

Abstract:
It is easy to point to mathematical and statistical techniques for analyzing data that address real-world problems, but it is less obvious how theoretical development alone can lead to real-world impact. This talk will walk through several examples, discuss the ecosystem of mathematics and statistics researchers involved in applied efforts, and highlight ways students can prepare for careers in these types of roles.
