To everyone who came to our meeting on Monday, thank you for coming up with such great initiative ideas! If you are interested in starting a new initiative, please don't hesitate to fill out a Project Initiative Framework form to start formalizing your ideas.

To everyone else, here are some upcoming sustainability-themed volunteer opportunities hosted by CSSI and partners:

RUMBO Day of Service - Saturday 9/27 @ 9am, 11am, & 5pm
Desert West Community Center (6501 W Virginia Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85035)
Maryvale Park (4420 N 51st Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85031)

• RUMBO is a local non-profit researching urban heat islands in Phoenix and empowering Maryvale youth to advocate for heat mitigation efforts in one of the most heat-prone urban villages in the country. They'll be assembling heat relief kits in the morning at Desert West Community Center and distributing them in the evening at Maryvale Park. If interested, please sign up here!

Really, Really Free Market - Saturday, 9/27 @ 8:30 - 10:00am

SOIL Garden Workday - Sunday, 9/28 @ 8am
Encounter Farms (1718 N Mesa Dr, Mesa, AZ 85201)

• The SOIL initiative is developing a plot within a flourishing community garden in Mesa. Join us to learn new gardening skills, share your own knowledge, and get to know other students and professionals interested in sustainable food systems! We plan to meet at Encounter Farms, but if you need a ride from campus, please don't hesitate to reply to this email—we can arrange carpools easily.
