About Us

The mission of this organization shall be to: (1) Promote and protect the interests of all Arizona State University students, ensuring equitable representation and uplifting the voices of their constituent communities, especially those from marginalized populations, university-wide. (2) Foster a culture rooted in diversity, mutual respect, and inclusion, increasing awareness and understanding among the various cultures across all university locations. (3) Uphold integrity in leadership, decision-making, and collaboration, ensuring transparency and accountability within the organization and its partnerships. (4) Strive to increase collaboration with coalitions and academic departments while maintaining respectful and ethical engagement with all stakeholders. (5) Streamline communication within member organizations. (6) Host a variety of culture-themed events to celebrate all cultures represented by our student body. (7) Maximize resources and elevate heritage activities to signature programming status by engaging in collaborative strategic planning with member organizations, partners, and stakeholders, university-wide, ensuring fair and inclusive participation (8) This organization is committed to the principles of diversity, respect, integrity, and representation, which shall guide all decisions, initiatives, and interactions within the Coalition of International Students and the Council of Coalitions. (9) CIS shall remain institutionally neutral regarding international political conflicts and geopolitical matters. The organization shall prioritize community wellbeing, inclusivity, respectful engagement, and equitable support for all students while refraining from endorsing political positions or affiliations. Nothing in this section shall restrict individual members from holding or expressing personal beliefs in their individual capacities.

Members Benefits

Membership in CIS provides a supportive and enriching environment for both individual students and affiliated student organizations. Individual members benefit from access to leadership roles, such as Executive Board or Director positions, as well as involvement in advocacy efforts, cultural programming, and professional development initiatives. Members are also eligible to participate in retreats, trainings, and leadership workshops, and may receive academic credit or stipends based on their role and level of engagement. For student organizations affiliated with CIS, membership offers increased visibility, access to collaborative programming opportunities, and the ability to vote on coalition decisions that shape our advocacy and cultural efforts. Member organizations are also supported through networking, funding referrals, and participation in university-wide events, including International Night and Welcome Week. Overall, CIS membership serves as a gateway to building meaningful connections, amplifying student voices, and fostering a more inclusive and globally aware campus community.
