As described in our organization's goals, the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project provides an opportuinty for law students to develop foundational lawyering and professionalism skills by equipping them to address the well-documented constitutional illiteracy and civic disengagement of America's high school students. Fellows train in inquiry-based educational methods to support their high school students in developing 21st Century skill sets of creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking, and these same methods help law students on their lifeline journey to learn the contours of the law. Law students also have the deeply rewarding experience of bettering their community and learning to listen to peoples' needs, which also allows them to accumulate pro bono hours.

OUTLaw is a social and political organization dedicated to supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA+) law students at ASU. Our organization plans networking events with queer/LGBTQIA+ attorneys and allies, and coordinates events addressing concerns of queer/LGBTQIA+ students in the job application process. OUTLaw also seeks to raise visibility of queer/LGBTQIA+ issues within the law school, the university at large, and the greater Phoenix legal community.

OUTLaw involves law students in the national queer/LGBTQIA+ civil rights movement by encouraging political activism (writing/calling senators and representatives in support of or to voice concern about current legislation), supporting discussions of social change, and keeping students apprised of major case decisions and changes in laws affecting queer/LGBTQIA+ individuals. We are an organization open to anyone wishing to discuss issues relating to sexual orientation and gender identity or expression, and while we seek to provide a safe space, we welcome and encourage allies to participate.
