Members Benefits

Membership in the Society of Water and Environmental Leaders (SWEL) at ASU offers students a wide range of benefits aimed at fostering professional growth and industry engagement that cannot be found in a classroom. Members gain valuable exposure to the water, wastewater, and environmental sectors through educational discussions, workshops, and meetings that highlight various career pathways and current trends in the field. SWEL provides professional development opportunities such as resume-building experiences, leadership roles, and access to internships and job resources through professional conferences. Further, SWEL offers mentorship to guide lower-division students through the relatively new environmental engineering degree program. Networking is a key component of the organization, with events that connect members to industry professionals, alumni, and like-minded peers. Members also benefit from hands-on experiences, including industry tours that offer real-world insight into water infrastructure and environmental systems. Additionally, SWEL promotes community involvement through philanthropic projects and volunteer work, allowing students to contribute to environmental causes and sustainability initiatives on campus. Overall, SWEL equips students with the knowledge, resources, and connections needed to explore and succeed in environmentally-focused professions.
